2014 Engagement Australia Conference: Engage & Innovate for Sustainability

2014 International Conference of Engaged Scholars and PractitionersCharles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga, Regional New South Wales

Engagement that builds collaboration is increasingly recognised as being a critical precursor to innovation and the development of productive, resilient and vibrant communities. Collaboration builds capacity, creates mutual benefit and develops shared understandings grounded in a respect for diversity and a unity around preferred futures.

Enhanced university-community connectivity is at the core of the innovation agenda. Through an engagement perspective, we can begin to define this agenda: what are we innovating, with whom and why? Importantly, what is the role for Universities as catalysts for engagement, collaboration and incubators of innovation in the 21st century and beyond?
