Carnegie Community Engagement Classification Australia

The What and Why of Implementing Carnegie in Australia

The Carnegie Community Engagement Classification allows universities to demonstrate their commitment to the communities they serve and to share good practice in the sector. It has been the leading framework for institutional assessment and recognition of community engagement in US higher education for the past 15 years. The framework, after being contextualised for the Australian context through a pilot process, is now being implemented in Australia.

This information session provides background information on the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification, the 2018 to 2020 Australian pilot and the lessons learned through this process. The session was hosted by the Hon Verity Firth
