The IARSLCE Asia Pacific x International Conference on Service-Learning Special Issue
It is my absolute privilege to introduce our first ever special Issue of Transform on the IARSLCE AP and ICSL Conference, Hong Kong, 2024. Attending the conference, I was struck by the commitment of Dr Stephen Chan, Dr Grace Ngai, and the entire Hong Kong Polytechnic Service-Learning and Leadership Office (SLLO) team to hold a space where service-learning and community engagement could be discussed, compared, advanced, and where important connections in our region, the Asia-Pacific could be made.
So here we are, a partnership between Transform and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s SLLO, an Engagement Australia member that has resulted in a wonderful special issue. This issue encapsulates an informative cross-section of research and practice articles. It is wonderful to see papers from Hong Kong, mainland China, India, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Australia feature in the issue. I am hopeful that this is the first of many special issues to come. I am confident that the papers encompassed in this issue further the discussion about the practice and features of community engagement and service-learning in the Asia Pacific.
Congratulations to Dr Chan and Dr Ngai on a wonderful special issue.
