The Engaged University ‘Accord’: A turning point for Australian Higher Education

With the promised Universities Accord on the horizon, the Australian Higher Education sector has the opportunity to build a new future based on the foundations of shared purpose and understanding with government, industry and the Australian public. In his election speech Labor leader Anthony Albanese promised to “seek our common purpose and promote unity” but a decade of fractured relationships between community, universities and the government will require more than propping up an old and tired funding model.  What is the reimagined central role of engagement with business, government and communities in the lead up to, and implementation of the Universities Accord; and how do we seize this opportunity to ensure that engagement for public purpose becomes the new sustainable turning point for our cherished sector?

Engagement Australia is proud to bring you an inspiring line up of speakers, capacity building sessions, and networking events to celebrate and demonstrate the impact of university/community engagement at this critical time for our future. We warmly welcome participants from engagement leadership or practice roles within higher education, government, industry, and community groups.

November 21-22, at the Aerial UTS Function Centre, Sydney
